Government Records

Government Records, which looks strikingly like Gov-Resources – down to the picture included at the top of the page – provides a variety of background information for a nominal fee. Your purchase of the “basic” package enables you to perform a year’s worth of people searches for $19.95, 2 years’ worth of people searches for $24.95, or a 5-year “premium” package for $29.95. However, keep in mind that these packages only give you access to the “people search,” which does not include access to the databases for criminal or civil cases or bankruptcy information.

With all of these packages, you are able to pay an additional $9.95 for access to databases in addition to the “people search,” which includes the criminal records, civil case records, and bankruptcy records. In the “terms of use” fine print, Government Records indicates that their company is charged per access to these particular public records, so the fees are in essence passed on to their users. The variety of databases that you have access to include a range of information, from criminal, court, and child support files to ancestry archives, bankruptcy records, and obituaries.

All information in the Government Records database is available to the public by law, but that doesn’t mean that tracking down the information is easy. Government Records (and their identical affiliate companies) has made the process much simpler through their online system, which comes with a money-back guarantee if you are unsatisfied with the services they offer. We encourage you to read the fine print before signing up for these products. While their services can be extremely helpful, be sure you aren’t expecting more than you’re going to get for your money.

Cons
• You have to pay an additional $9.95 on top of each package to access all of the databases Government Records offers.
• Use of the “premium” databases – which include criminal records, civil case records, and bankruptcy records – require credits from your account, and you are given a certain level of “credits” depending on the membership level you purchase (10 for basic, 15 for standard, and 25 for premium or VIP).
• There is no guarantee that you will find information on the person that you are searching for, and Government Records includes a number of people who should not rely on Government Records for accessing information.
