RegClean Review

A cluttered Windows Registry can seriously slow down your computer. Registry issues such as corrupted keys or excess clutter can cause error messages and turn browsing into an arduous task. RegClean is designed to help clean up your Windows Operating System registry (98 through Vista). It does so by scanning your registry, eliminating bad kernels and fixing mistakes.

What You Get:

RegCleaner costs 19.95 for one year registration on a single computer. Active Protection and Antispywarebot are also included for an additional 9.95 each. Registering more than one computer also costs more, but you do get a discount.

Looking into what the various PC forums have to say about RegClean, I found a mixed bag of results. While I did find a lot of “user” comments calling the software “garbageware”, looking further into it, these claims seem to be unfounded. While it is true RegClean is listed as potential malware on a few sites, its bad characteristics come in the form of ‘mildly annoying” adware that can pop up with the free trial version. From past experience with free trials, this is really nothing serious.

RegClean seems to have been around for quite a long time and those customers who have used it regularly have reported little to no problems with the software. This leads me to believe that it is a generally safe and trusted program. Of course, when installing any type of software, it is always prudent to backup your system prior to installing it. Also, computers with newer operating systems (Vista and later) probably do not really need a registry cleaner. However, if you have an older PC that is lagging, then RegClean might be just the thing you need. RegClean is also backed by a 60 day money back guarantee so trying it out is risk free.

[Editor Note: NO LONGER RECOMMENDED. RATING REDUCED FROM 4 to 1. McAfee SiteAdvisor tested the manufacturer’s website on 05/03/12: “Security professionals warn against sites that make exaggerated or deceptive claims that can potentially mislead consumers”. “We found downloads on this site that some people consider adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programs.]
