Ruth Searle, an Australian pianist trained through grade 8 as a classical pianist, and with another 15 years of experience playing a variety of genres on piano, has created Rocket Piano as a comprehensive way to learn to play the piano on your own. Rocket Piano’s combination of different learning formats (books, illustrations & graphs, video & audio clips, & interactive software) make it easy to follow and entertaining at the same time.

Rocket Piano by Ruth Searle includes piano-focused topics like playing solo or jazz, fingering techniques, arpeggios, improvisation, and a number of specific tips and tricks, making Rocket Piano quite the complete program as far as quality of information is concerned. Video lessons are irreplaceable, showing you what to do in lieu of just telling you, and supplemental features like Jayde Musica Pro and Chordinator reinforce your ability to read music as well.

Also essential is your ability to update whichever version of Rocket Piano you choose, since it’s important to stay up-to-date with new training features, videos, or ebooks. With all of this information, if you are struggling to learn to play a particular style, you have access to the email consultation line, which allows you to ask questions of a professional or teacher in the specific genre you are interested in.

Overall, Rocket Piano by Ruth Searle contains some of the most complete information we’ve seen about learning to play the piano, although it was edged out by Learn & Master Piano. However, Rocket Paino is extremely affordable in the downloadable version at $39.99 (although it is supposed to be going up to $99.99 soon). If you are looking for an affordable and effective method for learning to play piano, Rocket Piano by Ruth Searle may be just what you are looking for.

All I've been successful in doing is downloading the books. I've reviewed Vol 2. Another disappointment. I can't use the special features. Nor can I access the videos. True, I don't have a degree in computer technology and I didn't grow up with a computer in my crib. But, I'm not stupid. I've been taken.

Cons Too difficult to figure out how to access videos, etc.
