Spyware Hitman, from what we can tell, is a free downloadable program available online. Although we had difficulty accessing the product website, we were eventually able to do so only through Mozilla Firefox, where we learned that the product protects your computer by removing spyware, adware, and harmful registry keys; killing Trojans, worms, & viruses; destroying harmful hijackers; preventing identity theft; and cleaning & optimizing your computer’s everyday functions.

Despite its clever name – or perhaps because the program is mimicking the secretive nature of its name – we had a hard time tracking down much info on Spyware Hitman. While a few related websites included a lengthy letter from creator, Barry Ramlow, we were finally able to access the Spyware Hitman website only through our Mozilla Firefox browser. The set-up of this website was a bit amateur, with the traditional “letter” from the creator, Barry Ramlow. We do believe that Ramlow stands behind Spyware Hitman, and for a free product, Spyware Hitman offers a number of important features.

Although there is no mention of automatic updates, we’re certain that Spyware Hitman uses your internet connection to stay up-to-date on the latest phishing scams, blocking items from spyware and adware to worms and viruses. In addition, Spyware Hitman provides a “cleaning” system that allows you to optimize the performance of your computer on a regular basis.

The support aspect of Spyware Hitman, backed by BR Marketing, is quite advanced. By clicking on the “support” button, you have access to a number of features like downloadable manuals, troubleshooting information, company news and announcements, and frequently asked questions. What Spyware Hitman is lacking in presentation, it really seems to make up for in customer support. Although Spyware Hitman is just one of BR Marketing’s products, we believe that a company with such extensive customer service features must provide a sustainable product in the spyware/adware department.

• Spyware Hitman is a free download, supposedly available for a limited time only.
• Creator Barry Ramlow appears to stand behind his product, offering e-mail customer support if you have issues downloading or using the Spyware Hitman software.

Cons

• This particular program appears to be friendly to Mozilla Firefox users, so we are unsure whether it will be as useful with other internet browsers.
• The free version of Spyware Hitman appears to be on a trial basis, as this is a relatively new product on the market.
• The “letter” marketing ploy on Spyware Hitman’s website didn’t really impress us, since it appears that the product speaks for itself.
